Nils Bjarne Næss Krohn (NOR)

Name: Nils Bjarne Næss Krohn
Birth: Dec. 9, 1983
Hobbies: Telemark, alpine skiing, biking, mountaintop climbing, hunting, fishing and avalanches.
Club: Åndalsnes Idrettsforening
I describe myself an active and quite determined person. I burn for my interests and gets a lot from being out in the nature, both summer and winter.
I have a strong passion towards the steep naturelife and loves to challenge the elements in nature.
My main focus is on telemark skiing. I started alpine skiing when I was two, and switched to Telemark in 1994. I have competed in many local mountain telemark competitions over the past years, and after a while I started competing in "Region Cup in Telemark racing".
1999: I joined the Region team in Møre og Romsdal, and started to compete in Norway cup in telemark racing.
2000: I started in Oppdal ski gymnasium for three years.
2004: I was picked to join the recruit team under Norges Skiforbund.
2005: I decided to quit telemark racing due to lack of motivation. I rather wanted to make an effort on mountain telemark which has more participants and competitions than telemark racing.
Aside telemark, I have a lot of interests. My passion lies within sports and outdoor life. I´m an eager biker and use this sport as training towards telemark skiing.
I also enjoy climbing steep mountains and go hunting and fishing.
I have great respect for snow in movement, and in the latest years I have gotten an interest for avalanches.
MY AMBITIONS:
My ambitions for 2006/2007 is to achieve good results in single-runs. I know I have the capasity to win the Norwegian cup in mountain telemark if I get everything right. If I do good in single-runs, a good position in Norway cup will come automatically.
Though my goal is to get results in all competitions, there are five of them which I would really like to win. Four of these will be held in Møre og Romsdal and one in Oppland. The competitions are:
Alperittet: I have participated in the Alperittet for many years and each time I sit in the car and get nearer and nearer to Stranda, I get this special feeling. The atmosphere around this race makes it an amazing experience. I won this race as junior in 2002 and would very much like to repeat the victory this year.
Skarverittet: This race is held at home in Skorgedalen in Romsdalen. I´m quite eager to win this race since it is homeground and being arranged by my club, Åndalsnes IF. I have two 2nd places and a fourthplace from earlier races and would like to reach the top this year.
Vengedalsrennet: This race is held the day after Skarverittet, in Vengesdalen in Isfjorden. This will also be like homeground. I also have a 2nd place here, and would like to win this year.
Galdhøgpiggrennet: This race is the biggest mountain telemark competition in Norway, and gathers 400 participants yearly. Galdhøgpiggrennet this year is the Norway Championship. Every telemark rider with ambitions would like to win this, including me!
Standalrennet: I have participated in this race many times and have become quite fond of it. The surroundings around Standalsrennet are amongst Norway´s finest, and contributes to a spectacular and fun event. I hope the new slope is fast and awsome. It is my ambition to win this race!!

Magnus Tveito (NOR)
 | | Magnus Tveito |
Magnus Tveito is one of the most talented freeride skiers to appear on the Norwegian ski scene the last few years. Magnus grew up 200 meters away from the steep Ål Skiresort, so his possibility to hone his skills has been excellent. And it shows! 2002 he came second among the juniors in the Norwegian Mountain Telemark cup, 2003 he won the Norwegian Championship, and 2004 he was second.
But Magnus belongs to the new breed of tele skiers, and he enjoys skiing in the park just as good as offpiste skiing. In 2002 he joined the X-Sports big jump comp in Hemsedal as the only one with a free heel! He did a double backflip and a Rodeo 7, but unfortunately he missed the landings. But this guy will be back, and is one of the first Norwegian freeheelers to walk in the footsteps of great American freeheel jibbers like Max Mancini, doing stuff on teleskis that we all thought was impossible!
2003 he became “this year’s rookie” at the Røldal Freeride Challenge. Magnus broke his thumb a few days before the comp, but he taped the pole to his arm, and did a good job in Røldal! 2004 he was back, and won the race with great confidence!
In the 2004 Nordic Extremeskiing Championship at Riksgränsen he came second, so this season he´s really established himself as one of the very best freeheelskiers in the country.
With his young age, and gutsy style, Magnus represents the future of Norwegian free heel skiing, and we’re proud to have him on our team!
